Orcas!

Every year about this time, a pod of orcas returns to the harbor in Kodiak to feast on the many Steller sea lions that hang out there. It's all about the timing when catching a glimpse of these majestic animals- I've only seen them 3 times in as many years! Today, a friend of mine who works on the channel leading into the harbor phoned to let me know that they were out and about. Needless to say, The Husband and jumped in the car and raced down there... here is a glimpse of what we witnessed:

A calf. I got seriously choked up. I am not worthy of witnessing such profound beauty.

Hi, my Noro-esque is some worsted yarn from Yarn Treehouse who sell on eBay (I go through ebay.co.uk but it should be on .com I think - they are American after all!) No official name but the ball band says 'Rhythm' and 'Yarn Treehouse' and it does feel quite soft - not had too much experience with Kureyon to be able to compair them!
How fantastic to see the Orcas though and the entrelac bag looks great so far!

I’m in the process of doing some massive ring maintenance for the FiberArts Bloggers ring and I am contacting you because there’s a problem with your code. The code you have up is actually alright, except that the ring’s original home page on the urbanspinner site is long gone. The new home page is:
http://unioncenterknits.typepad.com/fiber_arts_bloggers/
You’re welcome to either switch out just that one part of the code, or ask me for the basic default ring code instead.
Please feel free to contact me with any related questions/concerns. Once you have your code fixed up, if you want to send me a note I’d appreciate it, so I can check it out. Thanks!

Oh WOW how lucky are you:) What an amazing sight , so glad you got to see & photo them. As a child I used to see porpoise come up the estuary chasing the multitude of mackerel but I haven't seen them in ages . Don't know if its because the estuary has silted more or what but they were a sight to see

I was so lucky, about 7 years ago when I was on a halibut fishing trip out of Seward, we got to see a school of 7, yes 7, orcas. First we saw 3 adults, then they were joined by two more adults and two babies. They were all swimming in sych. It was a gorgeous sight to see. We also got to see two humpback whales surfacing and flopping their tails. We were sooooo lucky!

I know I'm like a week late to this...but can I tell you how glad I am you posted this???

Chunky was just asking me about "shamus" (gah, how disgusting, the kid lives in San Antonio for 7 mos and things orcas are called "shamus"!) and I told him they lived in Alaska NOT in Texas! Your picture just proved it!!!

I'm jealous...we don't see many of those on the East Coast. I did get to see some flukes on my Alaskan cruise (honeymoon) a few years ago. I almost moved to Alaska before I meet my husband... Maybe one day...
